How to painlessly add a “Share on Google+” option to Jetpack for WordPress (and/or Sharedaddy) (the still-rather-ugly way, I’m afraid)

Remember my How to add a “Send to Google+” option to Google Reader (the ugly way) from a while back? https://plus.google.com/111901425213768112631/posts/R3uHgoFCHuy

As you surely know by now, it turns out there’s a better way to do it nowadays, as illustrated on ReadWriteWeb: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/how_to_share_google_reader_stories_to_google_plus.php

And this opens up a number of possibilities. I’ve already seen a bookmarklet making the rounds, and I’ve just used that very same trick to add a “Share on Google+” option to our company’s website.

If you use WordPress and power it up with Jetpack, you can do this on your website too: http://jetpack.me

Just go into your Jetpack/Sharedaddy Sharing options and create a new service. Complete it like this:

- Label: Google+ (or whatever you want, really)
URL: https://plusone.google.com/_/+1/confirm?hl=en&url=%post_url%
https://ssl.gstatic.com/s2/oz/images/favicon.ico

Click save, activate it et voilà! You can see it in action here, for instance: http://www.dialogumwelt.ch/2011/08/destination-future

I know there are some beautiful Google +1 WordPress plugins out there, and that you can also do it the hardcore way (like this http://p0l0.binware.org/index.php/2011/06/03/google-1-for-sharedaddy/for example), but in case you don’t want (or can’t) multiply your plugins, this could turn out being useful.
